Orange County Marathon Expo

Come see us this weekend, we’ll be at the Orange County Marathon Expo! The Expo is a 2-day extravaganza at the OC Fair & Event Center Exhibit Halls.

  • DATE:
    Friday & Saturday, May 3 & May 4, 2013
  • EXPO HOURS:
    Friday – 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
    Saturday – 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

    The Expo is free to attend, but there are parking fees for the Expo and for Race Day. There is a charge of $5.00 for General Parking on Friday and Saturday. Pre-paid race day parking can be purchased for $5.00 at the Allergan Health and Fitness Expo.

I Run Like A Girl

This article was written by Lauren Fleshman who is a JayBird triathlete and the wife of Jesse Thomas who happens to be a JayBird triathlete.

I have a confession to make: I wish I had a penis. Just kidding. Kind of. Not really. Oh, boy. Let me explain.

My sister and I grew up with a pretty dominant dad (pictured; I’m on the right) who was really macho and worked in construction and had the language to go with it. (You’ve been warned.) Frank was the undisputed boss who got the best chair in any room, the first serving of home-cooked dinner, and complete control of the remote at all times. He’s the kind of dude you’d expect would want sons.

But no. Frank had two girls, and turned out to be an unlikely sage for feminist wisdom. (more…)

JayBird Athlete Curtis Keene Sits Down with Bike Magazine

Curtis Keene may be North America’s best hope for a top result at the Enduro World Series. Keene had focused on racing downhill for years but when he tried his hand at some Enduro racing in 2012, it was evident that he had great potential. By the end of 2012 he had won the North America Enduro Series overall title, then proved his international credentials by placing third at the final round of the SuperEnduro series in Finale Ligure, Italy.

During the off-season Curtis has made some big changes in order to really make a solid attempt at the Enduro World Series title. He has adjusted his training, dropped some muscle mass, switched to big wheels, and now gets a coveted Red Bull helmet deal. (more…)

There’s nothing like a pair of Jaybird BlueBuds Xearbuds to help you crank your Lady Gaga or relax to your jazz as you race through your day. These may not be the most stylish-looking earbuds on the market, being that they are made from plastic and rubber, but they are pretty distinctive. The BlueBuds X have a very unique look. First they are actually wireless, using Bluetooth, so the only wire is the one between the pair of earbuds. Also, they come with ‘wings’ to help you keep the buds in your ear. Several different sizes of tips were included, and after some experimenting, the results were great. I find these already give a solid fit and block out sound, but the added wing that you hook into the grooves of your ear is just the extra security you want for headphones that are not attached to anything else. Wireless Bluetooth headphone champions!

I’ve tried them all Plantronics, Sennheiser, Motorola, LG, you name it.  None of them had anything close to good sound with decent bass and crisp highs.  Had to give JayBird a try. Extremely happy that I did!  I simply cannot believe that I’m listening to wireless bluetooth headphones!  They sound that GOOD!  Comfortable, clear sound with EXCELLENT bass! Couldn’t ask for more in a wireless headset! I will buy every new headset they come out with!  Good luck finding anything better! (more…)

Bikerumor.com Review of the JayBird Freedom Bluetooth Headphones

I don’t listen to music on the trails often because it’s too much work. Between the ear buds falling out or hurting, the dangling cables, and constantly adjusting the volume, I’ve had it. Instead of enhancing my flow, toting my jams has turned into a chore.

The JayBird Freedom Bluetooth headphones were designed specifically for active individuals. They ship with a variety of earpieces to ensure a comfortable fit, the manufacturer claims they’re sweat proof, and there aren’t really any cables to snag.

So are my riding needs and beats back in tune?

The most frustrating part of working out with the current crop of headphones is the dangling cables. Have you ever had an ear bud ripped out of your ear while riding? I recently broke a set of expensive headphones when the cable caught on my desk and irreversibly bent the audio plug.  Routing the cable through my jacket or out my backpack is less than ideal because it makes removing either difficult. When I’m out riding I don’t want to stop for stupid details. (more…)

Apple’s Plan for a World Without Wires

Apple is reportedly working on a way to sync iPods with iTunes wirelessly. It’s just another step in Apple’s steady march toward making wires and cords a thing of the past.

Steve Jobs is apparently pushing hard to make the next generation iPods capable of this type of wireless sync, according to Cult of Mac‘s sources. iPods with wireless sync would make the USB cable obsolete. Instead of importing music, movies and apps through Apple’s iconic 30-pin connector, it would automatically sync whenever a user was connected to his or her Wi-Fi network.
