Blue Tooth Headphones

A few years ago it became a buzzword in many electronic circles and now you cannot turn around with walking into it. Bluetooth is the technology of the moment and has seen applications in a thousand different areas of electronics and computing. From computers to mobile phones to stereos to any number of different applications, the possibilities of Bluetooth are seemingly endless. There are Bluetooth headphones, Bluetooth earpieces and a whole range of other products, accessories and add-ons for electronic devices that use the Bluetooth technology to communicate wirelessly with other devices.

What Bluetooth essentially is, is a specification for use with personal area networks (or PAN’s). The specification allows users to communicate over short distances between devices such as computers, laptops, mobile phones, video game consoles, printers and digital cameras. The connection is uses a secure, short-range radio frequency and all that is required are two Bluetooth compatible devices. There are many arguments both for and against Bluetooth and the technology surrounding it. The greatest arguments against it are concerns of privacy and security and a number of technical institutions have looked into the security concerns surrounding Bluetooth devices over the years. But if you are planning on using Bluetooth headphones then the security concerns are not really of importance.

Most devices that use Bluetooth such as mobile phones, the PS3 and accessories like Bluetooth headphones are created, set up and ready to use with any other Bluetooth device. Using the Bluetooth protocol requires little on the part of the user aside from activating the device and ensuring that the two devices can interact. There would be little use, for example, is using a Bluetooth gaming console control with a mobile phone that does not use the controller – even though the two devices will likely be able to pick each other up. For other devices to use a, for example, Bluetooth headphone, such as a computer, the device requires some special accoutrements. For a personal computer the most important accessory is a device that is known a Bluetooth ‘dongle’. This device slots into a USB slot and allows the personal computer to communicate with other Bluetooth devices.

While the Bluetooth protocol has a wide range of uses and features, probably one of the best features is the fact that two Bluetooth devices do not even have to be in the same room. The greatest distance that can exist between two Bluetooth devices is up to one hundred meters (100 m). As long as the signal between the two devices is strong enough, walls can even separate them and data and information will still be sent between the two devices with little or no interference. That means one can sit in one room in the house wearing Bluetooth headphones while listening to the music being played on one’s personal computer in a completely different room. Some headphones might even have the ability to control which song is being played on the computer. Security concerns aside, Bluetooth devices have changed and will change the way people live.
